There's plenty of SPI programmers on the market and I think one may do the job just fine. Its been confirmed that this port is how MSI reprograms bricked boards. I could read the chip via the jspi1 header but the voltage ov BC was not enough for writing. However after several trial-and-errors I managed somehow to reflash the board. Ordered a JSPi1 adapter from Alibaba and should have it soon. However was able to use the clip with a CHA Black usb stick no problem and rescue the machine back from death. No I tried it with a Soic8 clip and couldn't get it to work on that board and an older one I bricked last month. I'm waitung for my clip to arrive and test it on my msi board with 9 pins though. Is that even necessary? Anybody have a clue? It should work that way. What is the model of this MSI board? Its an B85M Gaming board. Though my MSI boards have 11 Pin configurations such that above illustration ignored the top two pins Not sure whats going on here. I also tried routing the WP to the 2nd pin on the left side detailed as VCC in the below illustration. How do you have this connected to the motherboard? Also I just wanted to ask, if I reprogram the BIOS chip am I supposed to have the motherboard connected to the power supply of my computer or not? I would assume not, but just asking to be sure. My BIOS chip is a Winbond 25Q64FV which is rated between 3.0V and 3.6V, so I don't need to worry about the supply I assume. I have read through this entire thread so I am fairly confident on where most of the connections should go but if someone has actually already done it, that would definitely make me feel a lot more confident about this if they could give me a diagram or something for the headers. Now I just wanted to ask, has anyone used the CH341A SPI Programmer to reflash the BIOS through an 11-pin JSPI1 port on their board? I have purchased the SPI programmer and some standard 2mm motherboard jumpers which I will wire manually, but I was hoping someone could help me out on which programmer pin corresponds to which pin on the motherboard JSPI1 port. I recently updated my bios on my MSI Z97S Krait Motherboard and put shortly it messed up the BIOS chip, but reflashing it using an SPI programmer should fix it.
